ARTWORK

Unlike creating a design for printed fabrics, in Jacquard wovens each color in the artwork doesn’t represent a color in the final product. In a woven design, each color in the image is a code for the loom. To create a suitable artwork for a jacquard fabric, the artwork needs to be created with knowledge of construction, weave structures, yarn & fiber properties and number of warp and weft layers in mind. We excel at combining both the artistry and the engineering required to create richly complex and beautiful Jacquard wovens.

COLLABORATIONS / CONSULTATION

We collaborate on many types of projects – home furnishings and home accessories, fashion garments and textile accessories, highly specialized contract textiles for use in unique public spaces, Jacquard woven textile fine art pieces. Our collaborations can involve every aspect of the design and development process, from concept through manufacturing and all the way to finished product.

The entire line of The Weave Lab’s products is woven at MTL, our partner mill, and made in the United States. We’ve been a part of the MTL family for over a decade. It is our policy to protect their intellectual property. We will not provide or create weave files for any other weaving mill.

MANUFACTURING

At The Weave Lab we will work closely with you through the development process - production weaving, finishing, all the way to finished products.

Our partner mill, MTL Inc., is located in Pennsylvania, USA. We feel proud to be part of their family. MTL is a highly regarded weaver specializing in decorative upholstery, both Residential and Contract.

Part of our mission with The Weave Lab is to use MTL’s vast existing library of yarns to create completely new products outside the mill’s normal upholstery constructions.

We believe whole-heartedly in the importance of creative manufacturing. The most exciting innovations happen when designers work onsite alongside the craftsmen and manufacturing machines.
